Grand Valley State University has a rich history of successful football coaches. Some notable coaches include:
Brian Kelly: Kelly coached at GVSU from 1991 to 2003 and led the Lakers to two Division II national championships. He is now the head football coach at Notre Dame.
Chuck Martin: Martin succeeded Kelly as head coach at GVSU and led the team to two more national championships. He is now the head football coach at Miami (OH).
